Developing own machines
In the 90s, the company focuses on the development of its own machines to make it easier to solve customer-specific problems and to optimize production processes.
In 1992 the company introduces the Blitzmatic, the first own machine, which already offered a 100% sustainable cardboard packaging with lid closure. In the following years in cooperation with the machine building company Tanzer, the Boxer, automatic erecting machines for plastic crates, are launched. In 2000, the Rollex, a film machine for crates and boxes is launched.
Four years later follows Jollypack, an automatic filling system for trays.

General supplier on the way to internationalization
With the two sons Erwin and Christian entering the company, the business activity of Frutmac GmbH is realigned. In cooperation with the local machine building company “Tanzer”, Frutmac develops its first own machines for the packaging of foodstuffs. Also, new packaging materials are added to the product range. Frutmac is thus becoming a full-range supplier for apple packaging.
In 1995, the first customers were served in German-speaking countries, followed by a gradual, Europe-wide expansion.

Focus on sales of packaging machines and materials
As a result of the increased demand for corrugated cardboard boxes for packaging apples and wine bottles, Lanakarton is transformed into the company Troger Papierwerke AG, which focuses on the production of corrugated cardboard. By acquiring modern flat and rotary punching machines with 6-color printing, the company is increasingly focusing on the refinement of packaging.
The company Frutmac GmbH is founded in order to trade packaging machines and packaging material. The first stretch film machines of the Italian manufacturer Gruppo Fabbri (Automac 1) are marketed with great success.

New packaging solutions
With the advent of the big supermarket chains, the demand for new and smaller packaging units is also increasing. In addition, plastics are increasingly finding their way into the packaging industry. Follow the current trend, the company Lanakarton is renamed into E. Troger Verpackungen.
The product range expands rapidly. In addition to net packaging, the foodtainer makes its appearance: wood pulp or polystyrene trays for 4 to 8 apples, which are packed with stretch film.
This trend opens up a new market: machines for packaging the goods.

Corrugated cardboard boxes replace wooden crates
At the beginning of the 1960s, cardboard boxes increasingly replace the traditional wooden crates. The new selling trend from loose apples in crates to ready-packed goods induces Erhard Troger to establish the company Lanakarton in Niederlana.
The business is increasingly focused on the production of corrugated board. Troger develops a machine to specifically produce cardboard boxes. With a printing and punching machine, the cardboard boxes can be personalized according to customer requirements.

A pioneer, a vision
Erhard Troger is considered to be a pioneer in the fruit packaging business. In the 1950s, he begins trading wood shavings for the packing of laid apples, wrapping paper and crates paper (blue and grey), that he sells directly to the farmers for lining the wooden crates.
Later, he buys large quantities of crates paper and corrugated cardboard on rolls and begins to produce trims in various formats and designs.
